Marjorie Leighey's Perfume Bottle

This cat shape perfume bottle belonged to Marjorie Leighey, final owner of the Pope-Leighey House. Crown top perfume bottles were made between 1890 and 1939, primarily coming from German factories but countries like Netherlands and Japan were also known to produce them. This object was gifted to Woodlawn & Pope-Leighey House by Nancy Mitchell, who was Marjorie’s niece and remembers it being one of her aunt’s most prized possessions. In the bedroom, there is a desk and under that desk was a small hidden drawer where Marjorie would store the bottle as visitors were touring the house once it was moved here from Falls Church, VA.
